How To Use OR-benchmark
The following examples will show you how easy OR Benchmark can be used:
OR-Performance - Finding l
Compared with Hospital B, Hospital A(left) has a lot more OR procedures in the evening i.e. outside the core working time (brown segment). This leads to overtime and unhappy staff.
OR-Utilization - Finding II
As you can see from the pie chart, work at Hospital A starts later than at B (dark red segment). This causes waiting times which cost money and leads to frustration among staff.
Idle Time – Diagnosis
Bad capacity planning is typically characterized by work starting late in the morning (left). And we often see a pattern in which idle time alternates with overtime, usually in the evening (right).
Reducing idle time and overtime lead to improved economic outcome.
Therapy: Reorganization of patient logistics to and from the OR. After six months success was clearly measurable.
